Heartstring Theatre proudly present the Australian Premiere season of

Written by Jen Silverman
Directed by Sarah Vickery

In this poignant, ingeniously absurd, and outrageously funny rumination on motherhood, three women are drawn together by an unlikely catalyst.

Morgan has recently given birth assisted by Elena, a midwife, and at the same time Dolores finds herself going through a similar experience. How are these women connected… and by whom?

Written by one of the hottest young playwrights from New York City, Jen Silverman’s (The Moors, Tales of the City) Still is a brave and remarkable exploration of grief and family.

Formed in 2016, Heartstring Theatre is a Melbourne-based theatre company that launched with a Green Room Award nominated all female season of Shakespeare’s Coriolanus. Followed by David Adjmi’s Marie Antoinette in 2018, they strive to create dynamic, thought-provoking theatre, interpreting both classical and new work. The company also work to address the shortage of great and interesting roles for women by always producing plays where at least half of the roles are female.

With the season thwarted in 2020 due to COVID-19, Heartstring Theatre now return to the stage at Melbourne’s iconic fortyfivedownstairs with another powerful Australian premiere, Still.

“Heartstring breathes new life into a classic tale … poignantly memorable and deeply moving” – The Plus Ones (Coriolanus)

“… sophisticated and intelligent theatre, a history lesson with some fine humour and characterisation” – Australian Stage (Marie Antionette)

“… another fine offering from Heartstring Theatre”Stage Noise (Marie Antionette)
